DrCagatay Eye Clinic is a private ophthalmology center located in İzmir, Turkey, specializing in adult and pediatric eye care, with a particular focus on strabismus (eye muscle disorders) and complex ocular motility conditions.
The clinic is led by Assoc. Prof. Halil Hüseyin Çağatay, MD, FEBO, a European Board-certified ophthalmologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Throughout his career, he has managed more than 3,000 ophthalmic surgeries, with particular expertise in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of complex eye movement disorders.
Areas of Expertise
DrCagatay Eye Clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting both children and adults, including strabismus, double vision (diplopia), amblyopia (lazy eye), cranial nerve palsies, postoperative strabismus, nystagmus, abnormal head posture related to ocular motility disorders, and other complex eye movement disorders. Every patient undergoes a comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation to develop an individualized treatment plan.
The clinic specializes in both primary and revision strabismus surgery for children and adults. Surgical techniques are selected according to each patient's condition, with adjustable sutures used when clinically appropriate to optimize postoperative eye alignment.
Nystagmus and Ocular Prosthesis Care
For selected patients with congenital or acquired nystagmus, the clinic offers surgical treatment aimed at improving abnormal head posture, repositioning the null point, enhancing binocular alignment when possible, and supporting visual function and quality of life. Selected patients may also be evaluated for laser vision correction following a comprehensive preoperative assessment.
The clinic also provides surgical management for patients requiring an ocular prosthesis (artificial eye), including socket reconstruction, treatment of contracted sockets, implant-related procedures, eyelid reconstruction, and preparation for prosthetic eye fitting. After healing, a custom-made acrylic ocular prosthesis is individually designed to match the patient's healthy eye in size, shape, and color, providing a natural appearance and comfortable long-term wear.
International Patient Services
International patients receive support from dedicated medical coordinators throughout their treatment journey. Services include pre-arrival treatment planning, English-speaking assistance, remote consultations, online follow-up after returning home, and all-inclusive treatment packages that may include airport transfers, hotel accommodation, surgery, and postoperative care.

In April I met Dr. Halil Hüseyin in Izmir. He operated my both eyes, each within 20 minutes. Two days later I saw everything clear and colourful like 20 years before and all this without glasses or lenses. I m so happy with this result and of course to met him. He is such a nice Doctor who take always care about you: before, while and after operation he explained everything in clear words and how to handle the future. Many thanks to this great Doctor. I can advise everybody who has problems with the eyes to get in contact with him. He is defenatly the best choice. Again many thanks to Dr. Halil Hüseyin. Kind regards from Roermond ( Netherlands )

He is the most qualified eye doctor (ophthalmologist) I’ve ever seen. He calmly listens and understands your problem and works with you for a solution. You feel like a family member not like a customer also great staff, you feel like home. Highly recommended.

My son had an outward deviation in his left eye, and at a hospital we learned he needed surgery, so we started looking for a doctor. A close friend, a doctor I love and trust, recommended Dr. Halil. We made an appointment with him and went to his office. After a warm and friendly welcome from his staff, we proceeded with the examination. After examining my son, Dr. Halil confirmed the surgery and explained the entire surgical process in detail. His reassuring words put our minds at ease. We received our surgery appointment that same day. A week later, my son had surgery at Galen Hospital, and they kept us constantly informed about everything before and after the operation. Dr. Halil came to the room after the surgery and said that the operation was very successful, and explained in detail what we needed to be careful about afterward. We checked into the hospital at 9:00 AM and left at 7:00 PM. The next day, my son was checked again at the clinic, and I can say we got through it with almost zero pain. As someone who works in the healthcare sector, I can confidently say that not every doctor has surgical skills, but Dr. Halil is truly talented. It's been two years since my son's surgery, and his eye is almost completely healed. I wholeheartedly recommend him to everyone. Thank you so much to the entire team for everything. You're the best.

Hello. I had surgery eight months ago with Dr. Halil for the outward deviation of both of my eyes. The deviation was affecting me significantly psychologically, especially my self-confidence in social interactions. I had previously had surgery with another doctor in another city, but there was no change. After extensive research, I contacted Dr. Halil. I was hesitant because I was coming from another city, but thanks to Dr. Halil's team, we easily found the clinic in an unfamiliar city thanks to his friendly and understanding manner. After a detailed examination by Dr. Halil, we decided to have surgery the same day. Almost all ophthalmologists can perform surgery for strabismus and squint, but as someone who has experienced the importance of surgical skill in this procedure, I already trusted Dr. Halil, considering his previous successful surgeries. Please note that this is why I trusted Dr. Halil the most. Dr. Halil explained everything to me clearly and concisely. I had surgery the next day and had a very comfortable day. He came in the morning and prepared me for the surgery. I underwent sedation, and the surgery was very successful. I had an eye exam the next day and returned to my hometown. My vision was in excellent condition aesthetically. Even the next day, I experienced slight redness, a slight stinging sensation, and double vision. I was a bit worried, but Dr. Halil assured me this would resolve within a week, and that's exactly what happened. Even though we were in another city after the surgery, we kept in touch. He constantly asked how I was doing, and I talked to him, and he followed up with me by sending me videos and photos. Thanks to Dr. Halil, I could always reach him. My surgery was a great success. It's been 8 months, there's no squinting. I look normal, more confident, and I look beautiful, thanks to Dr. Halil. He's the best in this matter, don't exaggerate. I'm saying this from experience. If you have the opportunity, don't look for another doctor. Definitely get examined by Dr. Halil. I also had another eye problem related to high blood pressure. Since I'm in another city, I sent all the x-rays directly to him. He took care of me. Even though it wasn't related to the surgery, he took the time to reassure me and suggested a solution. I will be his prayers for life. So when you cross paths with Halil Hoca, it is not an ordinary doctor who comes into your life🥰 He is a very successful surgeon 🌸🙏🏻

Hello. Dr. Halil performed two surgeries on me in July 2024 and August 2025. My strabismus (eye misalignment) was corrected when looking straight ahead, but the misalignment continues when looking to the left or upwards to the left. Still, I'm grateful for that. Thank you for your skill and effort. The reason I gave 4 stars is because I wasn't contacted for a follow-up after the second surgery, which saddened me. My surgery process went very well. The doctor said that my eye misalignment is congenital and therefore cannot be corrected. I'm grateful for that too. 🙂
