Dr. Bogdan Smeu is a member of the Romanian Society of Surgery and co-founder of the Romanian Society of Metabolic Surgery, and a member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery with active involvement in the academic field.

With surgical experience of more than 20 years, he is recognized as laparoscopic surgery expert and a fellow of the European Board of Surgery-FEBS/MIS, he was accredited by Surgical Review Corporation as a Surgeon of Excellence in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, and he also received accreditation for Robotic Surgery as Console Surgeon. 

He trains other surgeons in the field of bariatric surgery, and colorectal surgery and is on the faculty of numerous courses organized in the Surgical Training Institute.
